Deerfield Beach, FL – At a time when Florida legislation has turned against its LGBTQ+ community, two nonprofit organizations are stepping up their support for families with transgender and nonbinary children by hosting a Family Fun Fair just for them. The all-ages, free event will take place on Sunday, May 22 from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach, FL.
Lunch, treats, music and games will be provided by TransKids Purple Rainbow Foundation (TKPRF) and Stand with Trans (SwT), two organizations that work to empower and support transgender youth and their loved ones. Families can register to attend the Florida Family Fun Fair at https://bit.ly/TransFlorida.
“Through this event we hope to bring joy and happiness to people who are often marginalized,” said Jeanette Jennings, co-founder and co-president of TKPRF. “It’s our gift to the community and a great way to bring people together to make new friends, smile, laugh and enjoy a fun-filled day at the park.”
Roz Gould Keith, founder and executive director of SwT added, “by collaborating with TKPRF we are creating greater visibility for the trans community, especially in a state where rights are currently being threatened”
The park charges a $1.50 per person entry fee (excluding children five and under), but otherwise the event is free. Families of transgender and nonbinary teens, tweens or kids of any age who want to meet new friends in a supportive environment are welcome. No pets or alcohol are allowed, but picnic blankets, folding chairs and sunscreen are suggested.
